I came across not only this great image, but also this great post on youth marketing.
From Youth Marketing Insights: I am a firm believer that understanding and listening to Gen Y, millenials, youth or whatever you call them is not about just reaching that demographic.
My favourite was point number 3:
Be authentic and have values. We spend our money in an effort to support brands. The companies that walk the walk will have our support – in dollars.
It may be a utopian dream for some – but if you truly know your market, then its a very real possibility. The very nature of social media lends itself to truly engaging and compelling content yes, but it’s often the bigger picture – the values, the perception and the authenticity of a brand, product or service that will also play a vital role in being effective.
Think beyond the campaign; think beyond being ‘another form of PR’ and starting thinking about the long term, and the community to which you are serving.
Is you brand authentic?
