The holiday season may be over, but the spirit of giving continues – and in 2010, social media is the way to get your message out there. We’re always looking for innovative ways in which social media can help “do good things” and raise awareness of important campaigns and causes. So when we heard Boost Mobile and The Salvation Army Oasis Youth Support Network had launched their campaign to help raise money for the over 32,000 young Australians without a place to stay, we were keen to find out what it was all about.

It’s pretty easy. Got a Facebook account? Use Twitter? By becoming a fan of 32000togo and following them on Twitter, you’ll have already contributed $2 to help the over 32,000 young Australians that don’t have a place to spend the night or anywhere to call home. Boost Mobile is matching every fan/follower of the cause with a $1 contribution to the campaign. So by spreading the message around via your social media networks and getting your friends to sign on board, you’ll be making a real difference.
“When we learnt that there are more than 32,000 homeless youth in Australia we immediately jumped on board to try and raise awareness of the campaign and help reduce this figure,” says Boost Mobile CEO Paul O’Neile. The Telco has pledged up to $20,000 to support the campaign and raise awareness about this “national emergency”.
