- Facebook: Google can only rank public pages (so the crawler works), if it private, Google can’t fetch the address
- Twitter: links are generally no-follow, so doesn’t carry weight
- Overall: the links are followed and crawled the exact same way by Google, it comes down to the specific platform and how the platform handles links that can make the difference
If I were to make one prediction this year it’d be all around the way Search & Social are linked not only by user-behaviour, but also technology.
