Piano Social Media

Presented by Social Media Club Sydney

Many artists, intellectual property owners, creatives and brands face the dilemma when operating in the social space, what do you do about copyright? And who “owns” content in a user generated content piece? Is the notion of copyright “old fashioned”?

The speakers for the event are:

  • Professor Brian Fitzgerald – Professor of Intellectual Property and Innovation, Queensland University of Technology. He will be representing Creative Commons Australia (ccAustralia) is the Australian derivative project of the international Creative Commons project. ccAustralia manage the Australian versions of the Creative Commons licences and conduct research and education activities designed to foster a creative and innovative community in our region. Hosted at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, CCau is devoted to the promotion of Creative Commons in Australia.
  • Stephen von Muenster – principal, vonMuenster solicitors & attorneys, advisor on copyright and content ownership issues to advertising agencies and brand

The fuel for Social Media & SEO

I think just about everyone at the AIMIA event yesterday heard me rant about the fact that social media is generally driven through content.  But brands have a number of barriers to doing this – time, resources and expertise.

To underline the fact AIMIA and VentureOne have produced a one-day seminar on Branded Content with a great line up of speakers. I spoke to the organiser, Claudia Sagripanti, and she was kind enough to pass on a 25% discount code: BC10

Jye speaking on social media engagement

Tickets to the next Social Media Club Sydney are now available, which will be held in Sydney on July 20th. The event itself is free, however spaces are limited – so limited in fact, the venue has changed and is now to the bigger The Verge Bar, The ArtHouse Hotel.

Our social media strategist, Jye Smith, will be on the panel along side other social media crusaders.  We’re eager to meet more of the wider community and hope to see you all there.
