Ad Sitelinks

The Inside AdWords crew announced the launch of a new feature today which allows AdWords advertisers to add links to four additional landing pages within each Adwords ad (see screenshot of sample ad above). According to the Inside AdWords crew, the ad site links will improve the search experience by “providing users with more options within each ad”.

The process is pretty clear and straight forward for current AdWords users. Follow the easy steps in order to use the new site links feature:

Google Testing Comparison Ads in AdWords

Google announced today that they are starting to test comparison ads in AdWords beginning with the mortgage industry. According to the Google team, the comparison ad’s will improve user experiences by “letting users specify exactly what they are looking for and helping them quickly compare relevant offers side by side.”

A great article in the NY Times mentions some useful tips on how Google AdWords can offer local businesses the opportunity to expand their reach past their local suburb or town. While it mentions some good tips for getting started with AdWords, there are also some pitfalls that every small business should be aware of when starting an AdWords campaign.

NY Times AdWords Tip 1: Set a budget, a daily or monthly amount you’re willing to spend.
This is definitely a crucial stumbling block for a number of small business owners as they are unsure of what returns they will be able to generate from AdWords. I certainly recommend implementing a scaled approach for small businesseses – start small – check results – then expand.

Google Ads including your Physical Address – Coming to an Account near you!

Late last week, the Google AdWords blog announced that AdWords advertisers would soon have the opportunity to add a physical business address to their ads in the coming few weeks. This would work in the following two ways:

a) If you’re the primary business owner who has listed their business through the Google Local Business Centre; then you can link this account to your AdWords account and choose from your primary address (or from multiple addresses if you have multiple business listings).
