Today Google announced the launch of Street View trike (yes, trike) in Sydney.

Google has realised that many of the world’s most interesting and iconic places aren’t accessible by their Street View car so they’ve come up with a solution: the Google Trike. The Google Trike is “a mechanical masterpiece comprising three bicycle wheels, a Street View camera, and a very athletic cyclist in customised Google apparel.”

Google Street View tricycles arrived in UK

A few years ago after attending SES in San Jose, a few friends and I decided to stay a little longer and visit San Francisco. Whilst we were walking across the Golden Gate Bridge we made our first entry into Street View when we saw our first ever Google Street View car. Being from England it came across my mind that these cars aren’t going to make it around a large percentage of old British roads and wondered how long it would take until they were in the UK.
